We arrived back in Lefkas on June 22nd following Mark's mum's funeral. The Vicar, having known Hilda, did his best to make the service a celebration of her life, but even with his best attempts it was a sad affair and like often is the case bought lots of people together who hadn't seen each other for some time.
Marks mum was quite remarkable for her 88 years. Born in 1919 she had seen lots of changes in her lifetime, many of which were remembered by Denise and David (Marks older brother and sister) as the Vicar prepared for the funeral. As she got older and suffered increasing illness over the last 5 years she still managed at home right up until she died, enjoying the company of her family and close neighbours. She will be sadly missed by us all.
